Madison County's airport ranked #2 in Kentucky

Madison County’s Central Kentucky Regional Airport (CKRA) is now the second busiest general aviation facility in the Commonwealth, according to aviation officials.

The latest Kentucky Department of Aviation (KDA) figures indicate that Bowman Field in Louisville leads in overall traffic among Kentucky airports that do not offer commercial flights, followed by CKRA.

“We have more takeoffs and landings than [Lexington] Bluegrass Field,” said George Wyatt, chairman of the Madison County Airport Board. “It goes without saying that most of our takeoffs and landings are the result of the Eastern Kentucky University Aviation program, of which they have about 400 flight students.”
