Somewhere in Kentucky, the moving boxes keep piling up, and the locals have stopped acting surprised. One city has been collecting new neighbors faster than anywhere else in the state. You might be wondering what all the excitement is about. The latest census numbers explain it better than any brochure ever could. This is a college town with grown-up ambitions and small-town manners. You can sip coffee on a historic square and still reach a bigger city in well under an hour. Your commute could shrink while your backyard grows. Your weekends could fill up with festivals, parks, and friendly faces. Families are noticing the fresh energy and the room to breathe. It is the kind of place that makes a quick visit feel like an audition. So maybe it is time you asked yourself a fun question. What if your next hometown is already waiting for you?

Homes here generally cost less than comparable places in Lexington, which makes a big difference for young families. Projections even suggest Richmond could become the fifth-largest city in Kentucky. That’s a big jump for a place founded back in 1798 by Colonel John Miller.
