EKU Ranks Highest in Kentucky for National College Value Ranking

RICHMOND, Ky. — Eastern Kentucky University ranked first among the state’s public universities in Washington Monthly’s 2026 “Best Colleges for Your Tuition (and Tax) Dollars” rankings, placing No. 41 among colleges in the South.
EKU said it also placed in the top 30% of the 1,504 colleges ranked nationally. Washington Monthly evaluates institutions on their contribution to the public good, including access, affordability, student outcomes and service.
The recognition comes as EKU expands scholarships for Kentucky freshmen and reduces graduate tuition in several fields tied to the state’s workforce, including education, business, criminal justice and public health.
